Our volunteers Svitlana Semeneyeva, Svitlana Boyakovska, Lyudmila Voropay, Iryna Kuzmenko, Olga Kazakova came to the Makhtumkuli Library of the “Svichado” Central Library of the Culture Department of the Svyatoshyn Regional State Administration to remember, hear and feel together with the library readers.
The event was opened by the head - Yulia Volodymyrivna Lopata and gave the floor to Ivanna Edgarova.
Today, every family has its own war wound. That is why on Holocaust Remembrance Day we talk not only about the tragedy of the past, but also about its terrible parallels with the present. About the consequences of the Holocaust and the impact to the present. We remember not only the 6 million exterminated Jews, but also those who survived. Some of their testimonies became the basis for a fair trial. And then it seemed that something like this would never happen again. But today we live again in a world where evil has a face, and war has names.
Volunteers prepared a special program - testimonies of Holocaust victims.
These were quotes from the memoirs of the dead and a small part of those who managed to survive.
The lines written by ordinary people literally on the verge of death touched everyone.
There was not a single indifferent heart left in the hall.
We sincerely thank the Makhtumkuli Library, the Svichado Central Library, and the head - Yulia Volodymyrivna Lopata - for their openness, support, and joint work. During the meeting, our foundation also signed a memorandum of cooperation, which became an important step towards further joint initiatives.
Memory is not only about the past. It is about responsibility today. And about ensuring that evil never again remains nameless and people without a voice.
