• International Holocaust Remembrance Day: Kyiv Hesed events

Today, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, those for whom such a day is not a formality gathered at the Kyiv Hesed club. Those whose loved ones died in death camps, were tortured, and shot came. Those whose parents, risking their lives, saved Jews from death also came. There were also people who survived...

We gathered to light candles in memory, remember the past, watch the film "The Mill", which collects testimonies about the crime of the Nazis and their supporters...

The event was opened by the director of the ICF "Jewish Hesed "Bnei Azriel" Grigoriy Kolodach. In his speech, he emphasized the relevance of preventing anti-Semitism and possible ways to counteract aggression and discrimination. The head of the association of Jews - former prisoners of ghettos and concentration camps Borys Zabarko addressed those present with memories of the enormous work carried out by the association in collecting testimonies, preparing books, a film, and documents. The guests of honor of the event - the Head of the Cultural Department of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine, Ms. Lisa Heike, and the director of the National Historical and Cultural Reserve "Babyn Yar" Roza Tapanova joined in lighting candles and expressed our opinion on the tragedy of millions of people. With a minute of silence, we honored the memory of the dead, and with a joint photo with the hashtag #WeRemember, we joined the global flash mob of remembrance.

We remember. And we do everything in our power so that the tragedy of the Holocaust does not happen again, So that peace comes and we make efforts to rebuild the country. So that never again millions of children and young people are shot and mutilated. Never again.
