The professionalism of social workers: a training seminar in ICF «Jewish Hesed «Bnei Azriel»
It so happened that Jews of Kiev and Kiev region for certain are aware of professionalism, responsiveness and tact of social workers of ICF "Jewish Hesed "Bnei Azriel". But we wonder if someone out of Hesed's wards knows how social workers become so sensitive and understanding, while maintaining a responsible and professional attitude to work? How do social workers comprehend one of the important commandments of Judaism – charity, "hesed", and how do they manage to combine it with the usual, at a first glance, work?
Hesed social workers are trained all the necessary intricacies, peculiarities and subtleties, and speaking the official language – all the mechanisms, techniques and methods of professional interaction with clients at the basic seminar, which is conducted by the specialists of the training center of ICF "Jewish Hesed "Bnei Azriel". During the seminar, Natalia Tymoshenko, Iryna Kostenko and Irina Demenko together with other professionals help the social worker to understand the cultural and historical life of the Jews, teach the basic methods of work with elderly people and, of course, explain the fundamental for all eras and continents principles of life of the Jewish community – the mutual respect, support and responsibility for each other, without which it is impossible to imagine Jews all over the world. Also during the seminars the participants have the opportunity to discuss all the difficult moments and get answers to any of their questions.
Each of these workshops ends with gratitude and nice reviews from the social workers for whom just a few days ago was opened a new world – the world full of mercy. Understanding this allows the employees of ICF "Jewish Hesed "Bnei Azriel" to create decent conditions of life of wards, guided not only by professional requirements, but also by their own implementation of «hesed» commandment.
